Boeing 737-600 A Short-Lived But Efficient Jet. The Boeing 737-600 introduced in the late 1990s was the smallest member of the Next Generation NG 737 family. Designed as a replacement for the 737-500 it featured improved aerodynamics advanced avionics and fuel-efficient CFM56-7B engines. With a seating capacity of around 108-130 passengers it was ideal for short-haul routes. However its limited range and lower passenger capacity made it less popular than its larger siblings the 737-700 and 737-800. Only 69 units were produced with Scandinavian Airlines SAS being the primary operator. The 737-600 was eventually phased out in favor of larger more efficient models.
